‘Proud’ to have played a part in charity golf day says SBUK
Steel Benders UK (SBUK) are proud to have supported a new golf day designed to help future generations in different communities and industries.
Organisers of the first ever UchangeLives Golf Day thanked supporters for making the event such a huge success after raising more than £40,000 for charity.
The North East STEM Foundation and The PFC Trust work together to bring supporters, businesses and community members together for a fun-filled day. Both charities benefitted from the funds raised.
Steel Benders had their own team involved in the event and finished fourth out of 19 teams on a memorable day at Seaton Carew Golf Club, where former Liverpool and England winger John Barnes made a guest appearance.
Committed
SBUK’s operations director Phil Anderson, who was part of the team along with the company’s founder Malcolm Cooper, said: “Steel Benders UK are committed to supporting our local community and the causes that make a real difference.
“When the opportunity arose to support the UChangeLives Golf Day, we didn’t hesitate. The North East STEM Foundation and The PFC Trust are both doing incredible work to improve the lives of individuals and strengthen our region’s future.
“It was a privilege to be part of such a fantastic event and contribute to their important missions.”
The winning team celebrated winning a fantastic four-day stay at next year’s Open Championship at Royal Portrush. There wasn’t to be a winner of the Bristol Street Motors Hartlepool car that was up for grabs for anyone hitting a hole-in-one at the sixth hole, however.
Tania Cooper, the MD of Steel Benders, said: “We are thrilled with the result of the first golf day.
“The commitment from all the teams was superb and the weather played nice too. The fantastic golf course at Seaton Carew and the clubhouse were excellent and the whole day flowed beautifully.
“This kind of money raised allows North East STEM Foundation to hold ten primary school STEM days as party of our Future Makers programme, it really was a significant amount of money raised for us and we are delighted with the success. Thank you.”
Steel Benders UK donated prizes too and the money raised overall will help the North East STEM Foundation use the proceeds to promote educational opportunities for young people in STEM subjects, aiming to close the skills gap in the region, and ensure The PFC Trust continues its work supporting people and organisations in the area.
UChangeLives was a campaign running throughout September and the golf day was one of the featured activities.
